Révélations hongroises proposes here a list of Hungarian film festivals which show animated films. Some of them are enterely dedicated to animated film meanwhile some other show several kinds of films (live action, documentaries…) including animation.





Mediawave International Film and Music Festival (Mediawave)

Mediawave is an international Festival dedicated to art with a strong point about film and new medias.
The festival takes place each year in
Győr (Hungary), and also in about 15 cities in Hungary, in Serbia, in Czech Republic, in Slovakia and in Poland.

Kecskemét Animation Film Festival (KAFF)

The biggest animated film festival in Hungary and one of the big world animation film festival, the KAFF was created in 1985 by Kecskemét Animation Film Studio, one of the biggest animation film studio in Hungary.
Until the 2005 edition, the festival was triennial. Then, from 2007, it turned biennial.

Budapest Short Film Festival (BuSho)

The BuSho (Budapest Short) International Short is a young (it was created in 2005 - it’s currently the 5th edition) but extremely ambition festival. With in 2008, 630 submitted films, 90 films in competiton and 130 in panorama, it is already the most important festival exclusively dedicated to short film in Hungary.
The ambition of the organizers is clearly to enlarge the scope of short film on the Hungarian film stage.
One very important detail: all the screenings are free since the 1
st edition.
During the festival, beyond the screenings of short films, you will find an animation workshop, exhibitions, performances and concerts… in brief, lots of reasons to attend to this festival.

Miskolc International Festival of Young Filmmaker (CineFest)

After what his organizers say: “In Miskolc, young filmmakers find a home”… It sounds quite nice!
Cinefest was created in 2004 with the ambition to be one of the most proeminent festival for young directors in Central Europe.




CineFest is one of the most familiar festivals of the region, where our guests - directors from Singapore, Mexico and Italy - can get to know the fresh cavalcade of world cinema - with fine Hungarian hospitality.

Budapest Animation Festival (Anilogue)

This festival takes place in Budapest end of Novembre - beginning of December and is organized by Szimplafilm, the Hungarian distributor of the film The District (Nyócker) of Aron Gauder.

Hungarian Film Week (Magyar Filmszemle)

The Hungarian Film Week of Budapest is a unique opportunity to get to know more abour Hungarian cinema.
To give you an idea, at the 37
th (from January 31 to February 7, 2006) 378 films were screened including 37 features, 175 documentaries, 123 shorts, 43 educative or scientific films… something not to miss!
The Hungarian Film Week takes place each year, end of January - beginning of February in Budapest, in the following places: Budapest Congress Center, Millenary Park, Mammut Cinema and Urania National Movie Theater.
